It wasn’t very nice of the Warriors and Hornets to suddenly stop scoring in the 4th quarter last night.
1Q-64 pts, 2Q-64 pts, 3Q-58 pts, 4Q-45 pts
Unfortunately lost that ‘O233’ pick by 3 points. Baffling to say the least, but good news it was a winning day!
5* Duke -3.5 @ Virginia Tech — The Hokies have a great chance tonight to topple the best team in the ACC without arguably their best player. However, Va. Tech has not played their best ball lately since star guard Justin Robinson suffered a season ending injury. They’ve managed to hang tough with Virginia and handled middle of the pack conference teams, but they were likely playing a tempo that suited their intense defensive style. I don’t think they get that chance tonight. Duke is not the best outside shooting team, but if they get hot you’re in for a long night. The Blue Devils will likely get an overaggressive Hokie team tonight on their homecourt and will come to hurt them in the long run. Coach K’s team has depth inside to battle with Kerry Blackshear, who has been a huge momentum builder for Virginia Tech. Lay the points with Duke.
4* Syracuse @ North Carolina -12 — The Orange played a tough and emotional home game for Coach Boeheim against a wounded Duke team. Duke does not shoot the 3 ball particularly well, but still managed to cover and put away ‘Cuse’. Now Boeheim takes his team to Chapel Hill against a much healthier and lethal perimeter shooting team. The Tar Heels have more speed to take Syracuse’s big men out of plays and will look to get ahead of the vaunted 2-3 zone before it’s set up. Syracuse has been playing better and is no slouch in the ACC, but the Orange don’t get the benefit of homecourt in this matchup.
The rest of tonight’s picks:
4* Saint Louis @ VCU -10 — The hottest team in the A10, VCU, gets a solid defensive opponent. However, SLU struggles on the offensive end and do not hit free throws. VCU is solid on both ends of the floor and have been putting up huge numbers.
5* Wisconsin -2 @ Indiana Hoosiers
3* Temple +4.5 @ Memphis
3* Orlando -7.5 @ New York Knicks
4* Ohio @ Kent State -7
3* Boston Celtics @ Toronto Raptors -4
